Seeding Rock Wool CubesThe rock wool substrate is ideally suited for greenhouse farming,
floriculture, medicinal herb cultivation, three-dimensional greening,
planting walls, and home gardening, among other applications.
Rock wool Cubes facilitate easy starting of seeds and cuttings, ensuring even root development throughout the entire cube. These cubes fit into the holes of any standard rock wool blocks and can also be used with Aqua Clay, Perlite, Coco fibre mixes, and most other growing media.
Rock wool is a mineral wool created from molten basalt and limestone rock, spun into fibers and then compressed into cubes, blocks, or slabs.
Exercise caution when handling rock wool by wearing gloves and a mask. Rock wool fibers can cause skin irritation and, if inhaled, may also irritate the lungs.
1. Avoid squeezing the Rock wool, especially when it is wet.
2. Pre-condition Rock wool in pH 5.5 water before use to dissolve lime.
3. Pre-soak for 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the Rock wool.
4. Water only when there is light - never water in the dark.
5. The optimum room temperature for the growing environment is 18.5°C to 28°C for most species. Temperatures above 26.7°C inside the growing media lead to depleted oxygen levels, encouraging root disease.
6. With low light conditions, water with more volume but fewer cycles, and vice versa.
7. Do NOT keep Rock wool excessively wet. An abundance of algae is a sign of overwatering. Minimize watering while the plant is young. Too much water prevents proper root setting, which is essential for growing a healthy plant.
