floriculture, medicinal herb cultivation, vertical landscaping,
planting walls, and home gardening.
Rock wool cubes facilitate easy seed starting and cutting propagation, ensuring even root development throughout the entire cube. They fit seamlessly into the holes of any standard rock wool blocks and can be used with Aqua Clay, Perlite, Coco fibre mixes, and most other growing mediums.
Rock wool is a high-performance mineral wool derived from molten basalt and limestone rock. It is spun into fine fibres and compressed into cubes, blocks, or slabs for versatility in various applications.
Care should be taken when handling rock wool. Always wear gloves and a mask as the fibres can cause skin irritation and, if inhaled, can irritate the lungs.
1. Avoid squeezing the rock wool, especially when it's wet.
2. Pre-condition rock wool in pH 5.5 water before use to dissolve lime.
3. Pre-soak the rock wool for 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on its size.
4. Water only when there is light; never water in the dark.
5. Maintain an optimum room temperature of 18.5-28°C for most species. Temperatures above 26.7°C in the growing media can deplete oxygen levels and encourage root disease.
6. With low light, use more water with fewer cycles, and vice versa.
7. Avoid keeping rock wool sopping wet. Excessive algae is a sign of overwatering. Minimize watering while the plant is young to ensure proper root setting, which is crucial for healthy plant growth.
