floriculture, medicinal herb cultivation, three-dimensional greening,
vertical planting walls, and home gardening.
Rock wool cubes offer an effortless way to start seeds and cuttings, promoting even root development throughout the entire cube. These versatile cubes fit snugly into the holes of any standard rock wool blocks and can also be used with Aqua Clay, Perlite, Coco fiber mixes, and most other growing media.
Rock wool is a form of mineral wool made by spinning molten basalt and limestone rock into fibers, then compressing these fibers into cubes, blocks, or slabs.
Precautionary measures should be taken when handling rock wool, including wearing gloves and a mask, as the fibers can irritate the skin and lungs.
1. Avoid squeezing the rock wool, especially when it is wet.
2. Always pre-condition rock wool in pH 5.5 water before use to dissolve lime.
3. Pre-soak the rock wool for 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on its size.
4. Water the plants only when there is light; never water in the dark.
5. The optimal room temperature for growing most species is between 18.5°C and 28°C. Temperatures above 26.7°C inside the growing medium can lower oxygen levels, leading to root disease.
6. In low light conditions, water with a larger volume but fewer cycles, and vice versa.
7. Do NOT keep rock wool excessively wet. Excess algae growth indicates overwatering. Minimize watering when the plant is young. Excessive water can inhibit root establishment, which is crucial for healthy plant growth.
